Why does New York give birth to the best rappers?
Even a rapper from NY Tupac took over the west coast…lol, it’s comical, why couldn’t the west coast find someone from the west coast and had to rely on East Coast???
Jay Z
Nas
Biggie
Big L
Tupac– yes, he was born in NY
Big Pun
and the list goes on
because you need to know the history first.
Hip hop started in new york.
Most label heads are in new york.
there is not many labels on the west coast. and there are sure as hell hardly any in any other city.
half of these guys had connects to the labels that put them on. example:
Puffy worked at uptown records as an A&R. He met andre harrell. later on andre hired Mary J under his label and He introduced him to puffy, which is why partally he got his own label because he worked at uptown. they ended up working together. Andre harrell also used to work with Russell simons…
that is just one part of the web.
you are missing the whole picture…its all business.

That’s an assumption and opinion. A lot of good rappers come from Louisiana, Texas, California, and Florida. New York just happens to have a lot of blacks being born there, and New York is a big site to get in the entertainment business.

What do you mean the list goes on? Those were the only rappers that were really good from there. I prefer Texas rappers.
